Director and producer of Cruz (2021), Sunú (2015), and the animated shorts Tewe Chiva Nesero: La Niña Que Cuida las Chivas (2006) and El entierro (2007). She is the author and compiler of the theater book Andares, cantares (2008), which won the State Government Publications Award in Chihuahua. She has a degree in Fine Arts from Bennington College, BA.
She has worked professionally in different cultural areas. She founded and coordinated the Teatro Indígena de la Sierra Tarahumara with young indigenous people (2001–2011). She is part of the puppet company Bread and Puppet Theater – Glover, Vermont (1996–2024). She is currently a member of the Mexican Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMACC) and the National System of Artistic Creators (2022).
Like the pine trees of the Sierra Tarahumara, Miguel (79) and Rosa (78) are determined to stay in a forest threatened by loggers. Every day this Rarámuri couple speaks and listens to the pines, the water, and the clouds; they name trees in a world that only puts a price on them.
