Heny Lorena Cuesta Mena

Heny Cuesta is a filmmaker, screenwriter, documentary maker and creative producer with a solid track record in the direction and production of high-impact audiovisual projects. With a master's degree in Cultural Management and Production, specializing in the Meissner technique for directing actors, Heny combines her artistic experience with a transformative approach that promotes diversity and equity in film. As a director and screenwriter, Heny has led emblematic projects such as the documentary series for national television Tonos de Piel, recognized for exploring issues of identity and social justice, and Voces de la Equidad, a production that amplifies stories from a perspective of gender, race and equity. She is also the director and screenwriter of her debut feature film in development, winner of the Colombian Film Fund (FDC), notable for its focus on racial equity. She is currently working on the development of her documentary 1821: What's My Name?, an intimate exploration of memory and identity.

Her career includes impact campaigns such as Guardianas de los Ríos for Skylight and the transmedia platform Comadreo, as well as her participation as an Alumni of the Diversity and Inclusion Toolbox Program in Berlin. Heny is an associate producer of the International African Film Festival (MUICA), director and creator of the training laboratory for emerging young ethnic professionals Pantalla Negra Lab and founder of Cimarrón Creative Films, a production company committed to ethnic, artistic and gender representation, where she leads projects with a strong social and cultural impact. With a focus on authentic narratives, Heny stands out as a consultant, lecturer and film trainer, promoting new generations of filmmakers through her experience and transformative vision. Her work has resonated both locally and internationally, consolidating her as a leading voice in ethnic and gender cinema.
