Rita Baghdadi

Rita Baghdadi is an Emmy award-winning Moroccan-American filmmaker known for the intimacy of her character-driven documentaries. Sirens, Executive Produced by Natasha Lyonne and Maya Rudolph, premiered at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival and was praised by critics as “utterly charming” and “a documentary so slick it feels more like narrative perfection.” The film was distributed theatrically across the U.S and is now available on VOD. Other recent films include 2025 Cinema Eye Honors nominee Finding the Light (Disney+ 2024), My Country No More (Independent Lens 2019), and City Rising (2018), winner of the Emmy award for Best Social Issue Film. Rita is co-founder of the production company Lady & Bird Films (Black Barbie, Netflix 2024) based in Los Angeles and London. She is currently in development and production on several new films including Stallions shooting in Morocco, funded in part by Sundance, Chicken & Egg, Catapult Film Fund and Firelight. Rita is a Concordia Fellow, a Sundance Momentum Fellow, a Film Independent Fellow, and on DOC NYCs 40 under 40 list. She is represented by WME.
