Marissa Lila (they/them) (Director/Cinematographer) is a multicultural documentarian and psychedelic guide who was raised in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Thailand. As a director and producer for film and television, their work centers queer and marginalized perspectives who use stories as medicine. Their award-winning projects include Fire Tender (2023), Transmormon (2014), Scavenger (2012), and Boomtown (2012).
Since time immemorial, Yurok people have placed fire on the land to maintain a healthy and balanced ecosystem. Over the past 100 years, settlers banned fire, and the environment and the people have suffered. Now, Yurok people are returning fire medicine to the land in order to heal the world.
