Gabriela Díaz Arp

Gabriela Díaz Arp is a filmmaker whose work pushes the boundaries and form of documentary to better understand the complexities of being human. She has directed and produced a number of independent films, exhibits and interactive experiences and is now working on her first feature Matininó following a family of intergenerational women as they transform their experience with violence as they write and star in a fantasy film. Gabriela’s work has been supported by Sundance Documentary Fund, Ford Foundation, Film Independent, Chicken & Egg, Working Films, Doc Society, Topic, Studio IX, Points North Institute, and Adobe, and screened at festivals around the world including Tribeca, Cannes NEXT, Hot Docs, and Sheffield DocFest.

Matininó is a hybrid documentary about a multi-generational family of Puerto Rican women transforming their experience with violence into a fantasy film.
