Olivia Luengas

A documentary filmmaker and director of photography born in Puebla, Mexico, Olivia Luengas studied photography for 3 years in different schools in Puebla, CDMX, Madrid, and Paris. She graduated from the University of Guadalajara with a degree in Audiovisual Arts with a focus on photograohy and later on direction. Lenguas's debut film Lejos del Sentido won the Latin American Fund of the Tribeca Film Institute and the Grodman UdeG USA scholarship. A grant holder from the National Fund for Culture and the Arts, she is currently directing her second documentary feature Brigada 2045.

Amidst an unprecedented wave of wildfires surrounding one of the largest cities in Latin America, a group of forest firefighters, dedicated in body and soul to their work, gather the strength to face danger in a context of social degradation and climate crisis.
