Kathelin Diaz is a native New Yorker, born and raised in Harlem, NY. She comes from a traditional Dominican household and grew up always loving music. After attending Emmanuel College in Boston and SUNY Old Westbury in New York, she graduated with a BA in Media and Communications and started a career in music as she always imagined. Kathelin dedicated over 10 years to working at one of the four major record labels in the world, Warner Music Group. Her experiences there included roles in finance, contract management, and product management.

Despite her love for music, Kathelin has always wanted an opportunity to step into the nonprofit space and contribute to the advancement of people of color. After having kids and experiencing a worldwide pandemic, there was a drastic shift in her interests and priorities, and she knew that she needed to contribute to something bigger. Receiving an offer to work at Firelight Media could not have come at a more perfect time for Kathelin. She is beyond excited to work with such a passionate group of people and to learn an entirely new business in media.
