More Than a Month is a feature documentary that follows African American filmmaker, Shukree Hassan Tilghman, on a cross-country campaign to end Black History Month. Through a challenging, complex, and often comedic journey, More than a Month explores what the treatment of history tells us about race and equality in “post-racial” America.

More Than A Month is scheduled to air tonight on PBS' Independent Lens. Check local listings. Tilghman participates in the Firelight Media Producers' Lab.

Congrats to filmmaker Shukree Hassan Tilghman! Tilghman's film More Than A Month was acquired for broadcast by the PBS series Independent Lens and will air in February 2012. More Than A Month will also be part of the ITVS Community Cinema program, an outreach initiative that promotes Independent Lens films through free public screenings in over 100 cities prior to broadcast.
