Upon discovering that her white American father had mixed-race children with Asian women besides her mother, the filmmaker sets out to track down the siblings she has never known. Her quest uncovers the long-term human consequences of American military colonialism on women’s and children’s lives, in Asia and around the world. Current funding from ITVS Diversity Development Fund, Chicken and Egg Pictures and the Inkwell Foundation.

Leslie Asako Gladsjo is a New York-based documentary director and producer. She has directed episodes of the PBS miniseries African American Lives and Faces of America, and recently served as Senior Story Editor for the 10-hour national PBS series Finding Your Roots. Prior to that she was based in Paris, where she directed long-format documentaries on social and cultural topics for European public television stations including Arte, BBC, France 2, France 5, RTBF and others, including Les Turcs de Paris, Une Enfance Gay, Pandemonium and Prier dans la Cité des Hommes. Her independent films include Truth Under Siege and Stigmata: The Transfigured Body.
