ELINYISIA MOSHA

The Anatomy of Poverty

This documentary was inspired by a recent trip Elinyisia took to her family’s home, located near Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. Following the lives of several compelling characters, the film explores the issue of globalization, examining the impact of foreign direct investment on Tanzania over the last l0 years since massive privatization measures were enacted in the country.

Elinyisia was the recipient of the Garret Scott Emerging Filmmaker Award at Full Frame Documentary Film Festival 2009. She also received grants from Chicken & Egg Pictures, Peter Reed Foundation, and Gucci Tribeca Documentary Fund. She was accepted into the first annual Working Films/Fledgling Fund Artist Residency to focus on building effective outreach/audience engagement campaigns for social issue films. Finally, she has partnered with acclaimed editor Sam Pollard to assist in shaping her story.
